The Center for Transportation Analysis (CTA) in the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) develops integrated inter-modal transportation solutions through innovative and cost-effective research and development. CTA's activities encompass transportation energy and environmental concerns, safety and security challenges, planning and policy issues, systems engineering, military transportation, and transit visibility. Our research and development have contributed to the efficient, safe and free movement of people and goods in our Nation's transportation systems.

For the past two decades, CTA's work has been funded by both the public and private sectors. Our sponsors have included the U. S. Departments of Energy, Transportation, and Defense; Federal Emergency Management Agency; Environmental Protection Agency; Bureau of Census; National Aeronautics and Space Administration; State Departments of Transportation; local planning organizations; National Research Council; and General Motors Corporation. Collaboration and partnerships with academia keep CTA staff attuned to the state-of-the art research and development.

Staffed by 28 professional and administrative staff, CTA has an annual operating budget of more than $30 million. Expertise of CTA staff is extensive and diverse, ranging from risk assessment, to policy analysis, to systems and software development, to military mobilization. Collectively, CTA staff serve on 30 national committees and expert panels. The Director of CTA is Diane Davidson.

The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) 2013 Annual Merit Review and Peer Evaluation Meetings for the Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Program and the Vehicle Technologies Program held May 13–17, 2013. The staff members attending were David Greene, P.T. Jones, Andreas Malikopoulos, Zhenhong Lin and Stacy Davis

ITS Asset Viewer Unveiled at ITS-America Meeting in Nashville, TN
At the Annual Intelligent Transportation Association of America (ITS-A) meeting held in Nashville on April 22 -24, the U.S. DOT unveiled the new ITS Asset Viewer that uses visual mapping technology to identify locations of specific ITS deployments by type. Mike Schultz and Steve Gordon worked with their U.S. DOT Joint Program Office sponsor, James Pol, to provide demonstrations during the meeting.

2012 Vehicle Technologies Market Report released March 1, 2013
On March 1, Stacy Davis and Susan Diegel released the website for the 2012 Vehicle Technologies Market Report. The report details the major trends in U.S. light-duty vehicle and medium/heavy truck markets and contains many color graphics.

David Greene, awarded the 2012 Roy W. Crum Distinguished Service Award, January 16, 2013
David L. Greene received the 2012 Roy W. Crum Distinguished Service Award on January 16, 2013, during the Chairman's Luncheon at the 92nd Annual Transportation Research Board Meeting in Washington, DC. Dr. Greene was honored for his important, wide-ranging contributions to research on transportation energy and related issues that integrate technical knowledge with an understanding of the broader context of policy making and the ways in which markets operate and governments behave.
